Drink Mead, Learn Things: Hearth Broom-Making Workshop

We’re excited to welcome Suzie, of the Branded Goat, back to The Hollow for another magical broom-making workshop!

During this 2-hour Hearth Broom workshop you will be making your very own round style hearth broom. Suzie is an artisanal broomsquire (broom maker) who makes one-of-a-kind hand tied brooms, besoms, whisks, altar brooms and other magical creations. In this class she will teach you step-by-step how to make a short round heath broom, infused with your own handmade love and intention. All brooms will be made with natural broom corn (sorghum), black cord, and a selection of short hardwood handles to choose from. Each broom will be approximately 36 inches tall. You will need good arm and upper body strength, and we will use our feet too! Feel free to bring items that you may want to add onto your broom or use to decorate it, such as charms, feathers, beads, etc. But remember, if you attach things to the cord, or wrap things in as you make your broom it is permanent. If you add things after the broom is complete you can always change things up for different seasons.

We hope you’ll join us for this one-of-a-kind workshop!

Ticket Cost: $65 pp

Drink Mead, Learn Things - Swords and Bayonets of the American Revolution

Join Swordsmanship Museum and Academy historian, Jerry Berg, in a brand-new, never before seen presentation as he leads us on a journey back to 1776.

The history and tradition of hand-to-hand combat of the American Revolutionary War has been lost and overshadowed by the advent of firearms. But by digging through artifacts and primary sources, we find that blades were certainly bloodied, and often, during America's war for independence.

This presentation will feature artifacts and replicas from the Museum's collection.

Note:
- Minors 12+ years welcome when accompanied by a 21+ year adult
- Seating is first come, first served. We highly recommend arriving early to guarantee a seat
- Event is free to attend, but museum donations greatly appreciated. Meadery also has a $5 per person food/beverage purchase minimum to attend
